Skin Layers

Skin, a four alphabet word but does a lot of work. It is one of the biggest organs of our body. It is composed of three primary layers:

1. The epidermis, it is the outer layer of the skin covering the exterior body surfaces, which acts as a barrier to pathogens and bacteria. It provides waterproofing and acts as a shield against any kind of infection. It does not contain any blood vessels. It is made up of four types of cells:

a. keratinocytes,
b. melanocytes,
c. Langerhans and
d. Merkels.

The epidermis also helps the skin to regulate body temperature.

2. The dermis, it is the deep vascular inner layer of the skin, which serves as a location for the Outgrowth of skin. It consists of connective tissue and cushions the body from any kind of stress and strain.
3. The hypodermis, it is the layer of cells secretes the tough semitransparent horny substance called chitinous cuticle.

We can protect our skin in various ways. The most normal way used by almost everyone now days is skin cream. No doubt, it is effective but it is artificial and its effect fades away after a particular amount of time. Therefore, we must take some home remedies. We should avoid unnecessarily exposure of our skin to sun.

A balanced diet definitely helps by giving your skin a healthy glow. Drinking an optimum amount of water hydrates your skin and keeps it blemish free. We must avoid excessive consumption of heavy and oily foods. We can also go for good quality natural skin care creams, as there is no harm in using natural creams.
